Image by Siavash Keshmiri There’s nothing like a little FOMO (fear of missing out) to push a perfectly rational adult into financial quicksand. Whether it’s that influencer-approved water bottle or the newest tech gadget your coworker can’t stop raving about, we’ve all felt the temptation to hit “buy now” just to feel like we’re in the loop. But here’s the truth: many of these popular purchases lose their appeal fast, and worse, they quietly chip away at your budget in ways you may not see until the damage is done. That $50 here or $200 there may seem like a…

You’ve probably heard that letting off steam by hitting a punching bag or going for a run helps you cool down when you’re angry. But recent evidence says otherwise. A review published in Clinical Psychology Review found that these approaches don’t just fail to reduce anger — they might make it worse.1 That’s a problem, because anger isn’t just uncomfortable. It’s dangerous. While anger is a normal emotion, it becomes a serious threat to your health and relationships when you don’t have the tools to calm it down. Instead of “blowing off steam,” you need to cool the system down.…

Gut health is more than just a wellness buzzword. Over the past few years, probiotics (those friendly live bacteria) have gone from obscure supplements to daily essentials for many people. While we now know they support digestion, immunity, and skin health, one question continues to dominate the conversation: Do probiotics help you lose weight? The short answer is, they can. But not in the way some marketing claims would have you believe. Instead of acting like a magic pill, probiotics impact weight indirectly through gut health, metabolism, appetite regulation, and more. This article aims to clear the confusion surrounding probiotics…

Senator Loren Legarda has lauded the signing into law of Republic Act No. 12181, or the Adjusted DFA Retirement Benefits Act, a measure she principally authored and co-sponsored. Former employees at IBM were replaced with AI, the company’s CEO confirmed earlier this week. IBM CEO Arvind Krishna told The Wall Street Journal on Monday that the tech giant had tapped into AI to take over the work of several hundred human resources employees. However, IBM’s workforce expanded instead of shrinking—the company used the resources freed up by the layoffs to hire more programmers and salespeople. “Our total employment has actually gone up, because what [AI] does is it gives you more investment to put into other areas,” Krishna told The Journal. Krishna specified that those “other areas” included…

LLMs, Agents, Tools, and Frameworks Generative Artificial intelligence (GenAI) is full of technical concepts and terms; a few terms we often encounter are Large Language Models (LLMs), AI agents, and agentic systems. Although related, they serve different (but related) purposes within the AI ecosystem. LLMs are the foundational language engines designed to process and generate text (and images in the case of multi-model ones), while agents are meant to extend LLMs’ capabilities by incorporating tools and strategies to tackle complex problems effectively. Properly designed and built agents can adapt based on feedback, refining their plans and improving performance to try…

There are just some things you don’t do as an NFL team — one is giving away the number of a legendary franchise player to a rookie. That’s the exact thing the Falcons did this week, with Julio Jones’ No. 11 going to Jalon Walker, who Atlanta took in the first round. While it’s fair to note that Walker is simply keeping the number he wore at Georgia, this also feels so wrong. It’s unclear if Jones will ever make it into Canton. The threshold for receivers to make the Pro Football Hall of Fame is unfairly high, and he…

Arkansas Gov. Sarah Huckabee Sanders speaks at a campaign rally for then-presidential candidate Donald Trump, in Nov., 2024. In January, Sanders announced plans to reprise an effort to institute work requirements for Medicaid, as Arkansas did under the first Trump administration. Evan Vucci/AP hide caption toggle caption Evan Vucci/AP More than 70 million Americans who are low-income or disabled have health insurance paid for by the state and federal government called Medicaid. The main qualification currently is that you have to make below a certain income level. But there’s an idea that’s been popular with Republicans – that all those…

When Disney’s Toy Story debuted in 1995, it was the first movie I watched that was 3D. Now, reminiscing about that movie, I was instantly wowed by the imagery, thinking it looked so real. This experience influenced my perception of art, and as a kid, I thought, “I want to create a 3D movie when I grow up.” Where I am going with this is that over a few years, even up to me writing this blog, I have explored many different hobbies and one of those hobbies included using tools like 3D modeling software.
